Objective: According to ESC/ACC (European Society of Cardiology/American College of Cardiology) criteria there are only two components to AMI (acute myocardial infarction) diagnosis: elevated cardiac markers plus one other indication of infarction (ECG recordings or imaging modalities). If cardiac troponin assays are not available, the best alternative is creatine kinase MB (CK-MB), measured by mass assay.
Methods: The Innotrac Aio! CK-MB mass immunoassay is based on a time-resolved fluorometry concept. Using a universal all-in-one dry reagent concept, all the analyte specific reagents (two different mouse monoclonal antibodies) are built into a single cup. Addition of 10 µL sample together with buffer initiates the reaction which is brought close to equilibrium in 15 minutes. After the wash step the Europium chelate-derived signal is measured directly from the dried surface. Total time for test is 20 minutes. Ninety nine serum samples were analyzed. At the same time for method comparison serum samples were determined on Dimension RxL (Mass Creatine Kinase MB Isoenzyme; MMB, Dade-Behring).
Results: Passing-Bablok regression was used to quantify the agreement (r=0.996, slope 1.5556, intercept 1.1889, p < 0.05) between two methods.
Summary: CK-MB mass assay on the Innotrac Aio! show a significant correlation with Dimension RxL.
Conclusion: The data presented here show that the CK-MB mass on the Innotrac Aio! is a very good and reliable test.
